Cookies and Advertising Policy

pay-calculator.au sets two cookies and one browser storage key. This page names every one of them, states what each does and how long it lasts, and explains how to remove it. Using this site means accepting the storage described below. Nothing here is set for the purpose of identifying you personally.

Does your salary data leave your browser?

No. Every calculator on pay-calculator.au runs in your browser. The amounts you type are never transmitted to this site’s servers, are never written to a cookie, and are never included in analytics events. The one place a figure you entered can persist is the saved-calculations feature described in section 2, which writes to your own browser and stays on your own device.

1. Cookies this site sets

pay-calculator.au sets no cookies of its own. The only cookies present come from Google Analytics, which measures which pages get read so the content can be prioritised. Both are set by Google, not by this site.

CookieSet byPurposeLifetime
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes one browser from another so repeat visits are not counted twice.2 years
_ga_N5E6BXR2NLGoogle AnalyticsHolds the session state for this specific property.2 years

Google Analytics is configured with the standard measurement tag. Google acts as a separate data controller for the data these cookies collect, and Google’s own terms govern what Google does with it. Google publishes its handling at policies.google.com/privacy.

2. Browser storage this site uses

The saved-calculations feature writes to localStorage, which is browser storage rather than a cookie. Browser storage is never sent to any server, including this one, and never travels with a request.

KeyContainsLimitLifetime
pcau.history.v1Your most recent calculator results, so you can compare them without re-entering figures.20 entries, oldest evicted firstUntil you clear it or clear site data

Clearing this is a one-click action inside the saved-calculations panel on any calculator page. Clearing your browser’s site data for pay-calculator.au removes it too.

3. Advertising

pay-calculator.au currently serves no advertising and sets no advertising cookies. Page layouts reserve space where advertising may appear later, which is a layout decision made to prevent content shifting if advertising is ever introduced. No advertising script runs on this site today.

If advertising is introduced, this page will be updated before the first ad is served, naming the advertising provider and the cookies it sets, and the change will be dated in the header above. pay-calculator.au also runs no affiliate links and earns no commission on any product, service or provider mentioned anywhere on the site. Nothing on this site is a paid placement.

4. How to refuse or remove cookies

Three routes, in increasing order of thoroughness:

  • Google’s own opt-out. Google publishes a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics collecting data on every site at once, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Your browser settings. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all allow blocking third-party cookies, or all cookies, per site. Blocking cookies for pay-calculator.au stops both analytics cookies. Every calculator on this site keeps working with cookies fully blocked, because the maths runs in your browser and does not depend on them.
  • Clear site data. Clearing site data for pay-calculator.au removes the analytics cookies and the saved-calculations key together.

5. Changes to this policy

Changes to what this site stores are reflected on this page, with the Updated date in the header changed at the same time. A change that introduces a new category of storage, advertising cookies being the realistic example, is made on this page before it takes effect rather than after.

6. Contact

Questions about anything on this page go to info@pay-calculator.au or through the contact page. The related pages are the privacy policy, which covers what data is handled and on what basis, and the terms of use.

By using pay-calculator.au you acknowledge the cookies and browser storage described on this page.
